Natural Gas Off Two Week Low
19-Jul-19   18:29 Hrs IST
Natural gas futures edged up today after falling in last session. Prices eased near two week low yesterday following the Energy Information Administration (EIA) report on natural gas inventories. The EIA reported that working gas in storage was 2,533 Bcf as of Friday, July 12, 2019, recording a net increase of 62 Bcf from the previous week. The EIA also reported that stocks were 291 Bcf higher than last year at this time and 143 Bcf below the five-year average of 2,676 Bcf. At 2,533 Bcf, the total working gas is within the five-year historical range. Demand conditions remain moderate for the commodity though prices gained today from a mostly supportive undertone in risky assets as traders eyed a near term rate cut from the US Federal Reserve. The commodity currently trades at $2.28 per mmbtu, up marginally on the day. MCX Natural Gas is trading at Rs 158.20 per mmbtu, up 0.25% on the day.
